The opening statement of purpose from the Partisan Review in 1937: “Marxism in culture, we think, is first of all an instrument of analysis and evaluation; and if in the last instance it prevails over other disciplines, it does so through the medium of democratic controversy.”
The Marxism In Culture seminar meets four times a term. All seminars start at 5.30pm, and are held in the Wolfson Room (unless otherwise stated) at the Institute of Historical Research in Senate House, Malet St, London WC1E 7HU.
The seminar closes at 7.30pm and retires to a bar.
